Toyota Corolla: a Long History of Performance

The Toyota Corolla has been set the standard for many years and for several very good reasons. The 2013 Toyota Corolla is fuel-efficient, holding to a reliable 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The Corolla is also reliable, dependable, and inexpensive.

Reliable, dependable, and inexpensive aren't very sexy words to use when talking about transportation, but Toyota has hyped up the sex appeal of this standard issue sedan with a few new features in the 2013 Toyota Corolla and added even more to the 2014 Toyota Corolla.

New for the 2013 Toyota Corolla

An upgraded audio system with touchscreen display and a revised grille graces the 2013 Toyota Corolla. Another change the new year brought to this not-so-humble compact car is the Special Editions versions of the LE and S trim packages with added luxury features and unique color schemes.

New for the 2014 Toyota Corolla

The latest version of this economical car is all new. The 2014 Toyota Corolla has been totally redesigned from top to bottom, inside and out.

This year's model is lower and wider than last year's model, it is also longer. The profile is more aggressive and sexier than it has been in years. Forget about the forgettable Corolla of the past, this car is edgy and refined — as well as providing great gas mileage and a great ride.

Fuel-efficiency Transformed

Toyota Corolla now boasts a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) that will keep your car sipping gas rather than guzzling it. There is also a new fuel economy trim level — the LE Eco — that comes equipped with a revised version of the standard Corolla engine which now achieves the highest mpg numbers in its class with a combined rating of 35 mpg (30 mpg city and 42 mpg highway).

But even the standard six-speed manual transmission will garner you enviable fuel economy rates with 28 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The CVT ups the ante with a combined rate of 32 mpg (29 mpg in the city, 38 mpg on the highway).

Safely is Standard Issue in the Corolla

The standard Corolla safety features include antilock brakes (rear drums and front discs for all models, rear discs also available on the S trim package), stability and traction control, front side airbags, driver knee airbag, a passenger seat cushion airbag, and side curtain airbags. Standard on all versions except the base L model is a rearview camera.
